No Good Options

If you tell me the Republican Party bites, I won’t argue with you. I’ve been increasingly disgusted over the past six years. But the truth is, the Democratic Party bites pretty hard too. Check out this clip from back in February. (The quick summary is that both parties flip-flopped as to where they stood and both versions of the bill would have hurt the working class.)

There are still about six weeks to go before the election. Before then, there’s a movie I’d like to suggest. It busts on both major parties equally and makes quite a number of good points. In many ways, it’s too bad Tom Dobbs isn’t a real person.

And that’s enough political crap for now.

  1. They both bite. It just depends on how bad they bite and what type of rabies you prefer. I’m pretty ticked over the past few years too and this last week certainly has been a roller coaster for the economy. Since the presidential candidates are speaking out about this mess, where’s GEORGE?

  2. GWB has been speaking, but no one’s paid any attention. He’s off the radar, and not hitting any higher than Page Six.
I saw “Man of the Year.” Not a bad movie, but not a great one either. It couldn’t decide what it wanted to be: comedy, commentary, or drama — but the debate scene alone was worth the price of the rental.
Come to think of it, we had a coupon for a free rental.

  3. You’re right, it wasn’t a great movie. But it was still a worthwhile movie. The cautionary tale about e-voting was timely (and I can think of a realistic implementation with the potential for that problem), but Tom Dobbs’ points about a great many things were also important.
    “I support hydrogen cars… ”
“That’s weird, because you’re backed by oil companies.”
“How can you take millions of dollars from special interests and not owe someone something in return?”
    “Weapons of Mass Distraction.”
And so on. It’s not a great movie, but it is a good one. Definitely worth watching before November 6.
